Paulina from GXO talks with her tutor about her Payroll Apprenticeship

Our Payroll tutor, Ana, interviewed her learner, Paulina from GXO, and asked her a series of questions about her Payroll Apprenticeship and her experience as a route into a career in Payroll. 

This is what she said…

Ana: Please tell us why you chose to do an apprenticeship as opposed to taking another route into the Payroll industry?

Paulina: I have had no previous experience of the subject and I thought the apprenticeship would be best as I will gain all the knowledge starting at the basic level. It was a great decision as the content of the sessions are perfectly built for my circumstances. I was building up my knowledge and skills through the sessions and felt more and more confident each time I saw my tutor.

Ana: What have you enjoyed most about your apprenticeship and Payroll as a career?

Paulina: 18 months of my apprenticeship went quickly; each session was a very good experience, where I gained a lot of knowledge. The stress free and friendly atmosphere during the sessions was very helpful. Sessions were built very well, clearly explaining the topic. My tutor was always available for me to reach out to with any questions. I enjoyed off the job tasks after each session as this was great for revising and learning. All of the apprenticeship training gave me very good preparation for the final exams. It’s a great way of gaining a new qualification as learning must be done within working hours.

Payroll as a profession has given me a lot of opportunities, it has helped me to develop in my current role but also to open new doors. It is a constantly changing subject so it keeps me focused and developing all the time, this is the most enjoyable aspect of Payroll for me.

 

Ana: What is going to happen for you now on the next step of your journey into Payroll? 

Paulina: I feel much more confident to apply for a new role and I aim to move departments, which will be a great new journey in my career.

Ana: What are your hopes for your future in Payroll?  For instance, how would you like your career to have developed in 5 years time and in what area or location would you like to be working?

Paulina: I hope to practice and develop in the Payroll field and start the Level 5 apprenticeship soon!
