The government has announced a renewed focus on creating opportunities for young people, including jobs and apprenticeship opportunities. It has also published guidance stating that from the 2026 to 2027 academic year, apprenticeship training for eligible under-25s with non-levy employers will be fully funded, and from October 2026 non-levy employers may receive an incentive of up to £2,000 when recruiting new apprentices aged 16 to 24.
That makes now a good time to plan ahead, especially if you are thinking about summer, September or autumn apprentice starts.
Recruitment can realistically take 2–3 months when you consider the time to plan a role, advertising, attracting candidates, screening, interviews, offer, onboarding and preparing for the apprenticeship start.
