Funding & Employer Commitment:
For the Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, 20% of the apprentice’s working time must be allocated to off-the-job learning. This protected time allows them to build their accounting knowledge, technical capability and professional behaviours alongside their practical workplace experience. Find out more about off-the-job training here.
Your organisation will also need to provide the apprentice with appropriate workplace guidance, supervision and opportunities to apply their learning. Support from experienced colleagues can help them develop professional judgement, gain confidence in real accounting situations and complete their portfolio to the required standard.
If you are an apprenticeship levy-paying employer, you can use your available levy funds towards eligible training costs. Non-levy-paying businesses may also be eligible for government support, including the 2026 incentives offering full funding for eligible apprentices under 25 and up to £2,000 for employers recruiting apprentices aged 16–24.
