Engineering Operative Apprenticeship
Level: 2 / Duration: 12 mths
Additionally, a candidate on an Engineering Operative apprenticeship will learn all about fabrication and installation, involving a wide selection of sheet fabrication and tools.
During their Engineering Operative apprenticeship, the apprentice will learn to conduct quality checks and inspections on tools, machinery, and manufacturing equipment. The apprentices also spend an intense training period at our Swarm REAGIT centre in Norwich to develop basic skills.
Assessment
The EPA assessment period takes 3 months to completePractical Assessment with Questions - this must take 2 hours (+10 mins for questions) |
An Interview Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence - this assessment must take 40 minutes |
The Engineering Operative apprenticeship training covers the following:
Health and Safety in the workshops and behaviours expected of candidates
Safe and effective use of hand tools and all traditional engineering techniques required.
Learning about technical documentation, how to use it effectively in their role.
Candidates can choose to follow a variety of pathways during their Engineering Operative apprenticeship. These include:
Option 1:
Focus on a maintenance role which may cover mechanical, electrical, electronic, or fluid power work or, indeed, a combination of them.
Option 2:
Focus on a mechanical manufacturing engineering role.
Option 3:
Focus on an electrical and electronic engineering role.
Option 4:
Focus on a fabrication role.
Option 5:
Focus on working with materials, processing, or finishing.
Option 6:
Focus on a technical support role.

Selecting appropriate tools, equipment and materials to complete engineering tasks.

Use maintenance diagnostic techniques to identify faults using the appropriate equipment.
