Funding & Employer Commitment:
A Business Administrator apprentice must have 20% of their working time set aside for off-the-job learning. This protected development time allows them to build the practical knowledge, workplace skills and behaviours needed to become an effective member of your team. Find out more about off-the-job training here.
Your organisation also has an important role in supporting the apprentice’s progress. Providing appropriate supervision, feedback and day-to-day guidance will help them put their learning into practice, build confidence and work towards completing their portfolio to the required standard.
Levy-paying employers can use their available apprenticeship levy funds towards eligible training costs. Businesses that do not pay the levy may also qualify for government funding and employer incentives, including the 2026 measures offering full funding for eligible apprentices under 25 and up to £2,000 for employers hiring apprentices aged 16–24.
There are regular updates and changes to apprenticeship funding. For current information about apprenticeship funding rules, eligibility and employer responsibilities, visit the Government website.
